How Etsy Fees Work

Every sale on Etsy involves several separate fees that stack together. Understanding each one helps you price your listings correctly and know your real profit before you sell.

Listing fee

Etsy charges $0.20 to publish each listing, whether or not it sells. This fee applies again every time the listing renews — every 4 months, or immediately when it sells and needs to relist for the remaining quantity.

Transaction fee

When an item sells, Etsy takes 6.5% of the total amount the buyer pays — this includes the item price, the shipping you charge, and any gift wrapping fee. Many sellers forget that shipping is included in this calculation, which can catch them off guard on lower-margin items.

Payment processing fee

This fee covers the cost of processing the buyer's payment and varies by the seller's country:

United States: 3% + $0.25
United Kingdom: 4% + £0.20
European Union: 4% + €0.30 (varies slightly by country)
Türkiye: 6.5% + ₺14.00 — a different structure from the UK and EU, not just a different fixed amount

Regulatory operating fee

A smaller percentage charged only in certain countries, on the same total the transaction fee applies to. The United Kingdom pays 0.48% and Türkiye 1.67%; sellers in the United States pay none.

Some EU countries charge an additional Regulatory Operating fee (e.g. France 1.14%, Italy 0.80%, Spain 0.88%, Hungary 1.97%) — not included in this general EU estimate. Most EU countries (Germany, Netherlands, Poland, and others) charge none.

Offsite Ads fee

If a sale comes through one of Etsy's Offsite Ads placements — ads Etsy runs on Google, Facebook, Instagram and other platforms on your behalf — Etsy charges an additional fee on that sale:

15% for sellers under $10,000 in sales over the past 12 months (participation is optional under this threshold)
12% for sellers above $10,000 in sales over the past 12 months (participation is mandatory)

This fee only applies to sales actually attributed to an Offsite Ad — it does not apply to organic sales — and Etsy caps it at $100 USD per order.
